Kelual Kerato-Reducing Emulsion for the Scalp in Epidermolytic Ichthyosis

“This is a really effective product designed specifically to remove seborrheic dermatitis from the scalp of babies, more commonly known as Cradle Cap”

Part 3 of 10 in our “EI Skincare Showcase Series” addresses one of the most frequently asked questions when talking to new families about EI Skincare: “What do you use for the SCALP?”

A scaly, itchy, sore and flaky scalp is very uncomfortable to live with, and is another reason why people with EI are often met with cruel scrutiny by strangers.

Historically many of us have used OILS in an attempt to nourish the scalp and help detach dead skin and scales. Unfortunately, the use of oils is actually proven to trap scale and PREVENT it from shedding. As a result, oils can actually INCREASE the build-up of scale on the scalp.

Instead of using oils, our super Dermatologist (Dr Lisa Weibel, Head of Pediatric Dermatology at Zurich Children’s Hospital) introduced us to DUCRAY KELUAL Keratoreducing Emulsion.

This is a really effective product designed specifically to remove seborrheic dermatitis from the scalp of babies, more commonly known as ‘Cradle Cap’.

When we first started to use this, our daughter’s scalp was scaly, with raw patches where she’d scratched at it. Her hair was also quite thin.

In the first week, we used it every two days, slathered all over the scalp, left on for 30-60 minutes, and then rinsed off in the bath. Afterwards, I rough towel-dry her hair and massage the scalp.

After that first week, her scalp looked much more healthy and the scale was nearly cleared (Without ever having to comb out scales). We now use this for maintenance twice per week, and her scalp is looking so healthy, and her hair is just beautiful as you can see in the picture below.

So, now that our daughter has this beautiful hair and a happy scalp, I can’t stop talking about this great product to everyone who asks! If you’ve never tried it, please give it a go. It’s not a one-off miracle, but one day at a time, it quietly works its magic!
