Aveeno Dermexa and the Importance of Ceramides for Epidermolytic Ichthyosis

“I discovered it had the power to dramatically improve the appearance of scale, inflammation, and itch in JUST THREE DAYS!”

Part 6 of 10 in our “Skincare Showcase Series” is dedicated to AVEENO DERMEXA Daily Emollient Cream (Aka ECZEMA THERAPY in the US) produced by Kenvue.

Many of you who know me (Founder Helen Lill) will have heard me talk about Aveeno Dermexa and how much it changed our lives.

Firstly, Aveeno helped me to find comfortable skin after years of struggling with Eczema.

Second, I discovered that Aveeno Dermexa had the power to dramatically improve the appearance of scale and reduce inflammation and itch for Arienne’s EI Skin in JUST THREE DAYS!

The BEFORE & AFTER pictures here show Arienne’s back when she was just 5 months old. A kind Dermatologist once told me to try emollients that contain CERAMIDES, so I decided to give Aveeno Dermexa a try.

As with all new products I started with a patch test for 3 consecutive days. Arienne’s back was the most free from wounds so I tried using it twice daily in addition to her usual care routine.

The results of this patch test are very clear for anyone to see. Her scaly skin became smooth, and the redness and discolouration started to subside with every day of use.

Of course this wasn’t a cure, but it was the first time I’d ever seen her skin look this healthy. It gave me so much HOPE and the confidence I needed for the trial and error approach needed to help my daughter.

I have share BEFORE & AFTER pictures in the past, but on this occasion, the ONLY change in routine was the addition of Aveeno Dermexa.

After my delight with the patch test on Arienne’s back, I decided to use it on her whole body, and saw the same superb results. I was absolutely delighted by the happy, comfortable, baby soft skin that I was seeing before me. It was truly fantastic!

If you’ve never used it before, please give it a try and see of it helps you as quickly as it helped us.

I must add however, that Aveeno Dermexa alone is not enough to manage the rigours of EI Skin beyond the early fragile baby months.

Despite this, Aveeno Dermexa continues to form the major component of our MIX of emollients and glycerin used to moisturise the skin everyday.

Thank you for your kind attention
